If you’ve found this page, then that means you are interested in learning Japanese! But what kind of resources should you be using? I’ll try to answer that question by sharing some resourced that I have found and some that I have used myself.
I have been studying Japanese since 2002 and I have seen the list of available materials and Japanese reference books explode over the years. But not every method is right for everyone. The perfect textbook for someone just starting to learn hiragana and katakana (parts of the Japanese writing system) will not be the perfect textbook for someone who is looking to move on to reading Japanese newspapers or having advanced conversations using keigo (敬語) or “polite” language.
